LA 2028 Olympics to Feature AI Judging and Carbon-Neutral Operations

The International Olympic Committee has announced that Los Angeles will introduce several groundbreaking innovations for the 2028 Summer Olympics, including AI-powered judging systems and carbon-neutral venue operations.

In a presentation to stakeholders this week, LA28 organizers unveiled plans for the most technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable Olympics in history. The games will feature real-time performance analytics, immersive viewing experiences, and comprehensive sustainability measures aimed at producing zero net emissions.

“We’re reimagining what the Olympic experience can be for athletes, spectators, and the planet,” said Casey Wasserman, LA28 Chairperson. “Technology will enhance fairness in competition while our sustainability initiatives set new standards for major sporting events.”

The AI judging systems will assist human officials in sports like gymnastics and diving, providing instant analysis of technical elements while maintaining human oversight for artistic components. All Olympic venues will run on 100% renewable energy, with comprehensive waste reduction and water conservation programs.

LA28 is also partnering with local transit authorities to encourage public transportation use, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and emissions during the games. The innovations are expected to influence future Olympic Games and major international sporting events.
