Gov. Wes Moore raised over $1,000,000 over the past four months and has more than $6 million in his campaign bank account, the most money of any gubernatorial campaign in Maryland.

Moore’s fundraising advantage gives him the ability to build political influence, expand his campaign operation and potentially deter challengers long before voters cast ballots. Campaign donations can also offer a glimpse into the political and business networks aligning themselves with a candidate seen as both a dominant incumbent in Maryland and a rising national figure.
John Dedie, a political science professor at the Community College of Baltimore, noted that:
“…the reason a lot of people are giving [Moore] money now when he already has a lot of it, is people want to be first in line in 2028.”
